History is often said to be the “Mother” or “Root” of the social Sciences. It is the basis of all subjects of study which fall under the category of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is also the basis of the study of Philosophy, Politics, Economics and even arts and religion. No wonder, it is considered an indispensible subject in the complete education.
The objectives of the papers prescribed for the UG level is to provide basic knowledge of the Political and Historical events as well as socio-cultural, religious and economic developments in regional, national and international level right from the earliest period to the modern period. Thus, the scope of History is very vast, in fact as wide as the whole world and as ancient as the existence of man on this earth. History today has become an all-embracing, comprehensive subject with almost limitless extend.
